about pollen & reid

I curate extraordinary walking tours and luxurious experiences for cultivated visitors keen to discover the most unique and spectacular things whilst travelling to an area. The bespoke trips are tailored to what makes the clients heart sing: from meeting British artists in their Chelsea studios; discovering the forgotten characters who helped Britain win the Second World War in St James’s; uncovering an overlooked mosaic in Paris of a fashion designer who once rivalled Gabrielle Chanel, sourcing David Bowie and Queen Victoria’s signature perfumes; tasting British cheeses that have been made for hundreds of years in remote islands; to tile inspiration at a whimsical museum; learning the secrets of plane trees in surviving the London smog; and walking, meandering, and gallivanting across streets, fields, squares and parks.

As a historian and psychotherapist, I go beyond showcasing the highlights of London, I take you through forgotten parts of history that like the unconscious truly shapes the city. Whilst based in London, I have planned exceptional trips and accompanied clients to the Cotswolds, to stately homes in the shires, to Paris and beyond. Should you wish, I can curate and even accompany you as a guide anywhere in the world!

Illustrated Portrait of Maria Hungerford Pollen, 1857
Lead an examined life through history, art and culture inspired by my ancestor Maria Pollen.
As well as tours and experiences, I deliver  lectures on subjects such as Gabrielle Chanel, the gardens of Vita Sackville West and Derek Jarman and the history of Chelsea for organisations in London.

The name Pollen & Reid is influenced by a relative Maria Hungerford Pollen who was a writer on the history of lace, whose collections of antique lace and fans are held in museums in London. Her style, charm and work ethic shapes my ethos today.
